McPherson Cellars

Located in the Depot Entertainment District of Lubbock, this project represents a fine example of the re-use of an abandoned warehouse through creative site planning.  The outdoor courtyard is located where once stood an old warehouse loading dock.  The new space is used for wine tasting parties, is rented for receptions and outdoor concerts.

The design features a re-circulating fountain, stained concrete, lounging rooms, decorative metal panels and rustic wooden overhead trellises.  The inspiration for the design detailing comes from aerial views of surrounding agricultural landscapes, playa lake formations and the essence of bubbly.  Fronting onto Texas Avenue, the streetscape design is intended to engage pedestrians through the use of unique jointing patterns and tree planters that redirect the flow of foot traffic away from a busy urban street.

The court space is meant to be perceived as an oasis garden with the sound of water at the center of the experience and the outer streetscape reflects a more xeric desert theme.
